Computer Memory

Memory, yet another key component of the the PC. Take away the memory and the computer ceases to function. It is also a component that comes in many forms.

Memory comes in a variety of sizes, ranging from 32mb up to 512mb and in some cases even 1GB. Then there is also the added types, like pc3200, pc2100, pc4000, etc. Yet another added problem is the ECC (Error Correcting Control), as some have no ECC, other have registered ECC and even unregistered ECC.  All the different memory sizes and variations make it hard to select the right one.

So, here is what we recommend for memory.

Single memory sticks:

Corsair 512MB XMS ECC Registered PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory (if you have the money)

Dual channel memory:

Corsair Value Select Dual Channel 1024MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory ( 2 x 512MB )

Budget memory:

Ultra 512MB PC2700 DDR 333MHz Memory
